Painting Progress - One more coat to go

Quick update on our painting progress.

They have almost finished the second coat and will finish the last coat in the next two days. Evaporative cooling and heating is also being installed.

Check out some of the photos.

We've finally won another battle!

Hi All,

For those who have been following our build since day 1 you would remember this post. Click here.

We have been in discussions with the builder since slab stage where we believed a retaining wall and AGI was required to the front RHS of the house due to them dropping the house level by 200 mm from our contract to construction drawings without our written authorisation or any notice for that matter.

After multiple emails, on-site meetings and with the required muscle from our independent we finally managed to get the builder to install a retaining wall to the front of the house with an AGI drain behind it.

Originally, the wall was only planned to go on the boundary but for some reason they installed it to the front of the block too. To be honest, we couldn't be happier with the result. Even though we really didn't want a retaining wall to the front of the house, we're just glad it's done.

Some photos I took today of the install. AGI pipes still not connected though.

Painting Progress

Painting is well under way at our house with the architraves, skirting, doors, door frames and ceiling finished.

It also seems that they have sprayed the first coat of the wall paint and filled any areas that had cracks, chips etc... They will need to come back and sand this of course before the next coat.

Bricks Washed

Hi All,

Our bricks were washed last week and I finally managed to take some photos of the whole house today. I couldn't be happier with the quality of workmanship applied to our bricks.

There are only a few spots that I think need touch-ups but I am just being the picky customer that I am!

Here they are.

Here are the parts that I am being super picky with! Please note that PD have not yet 'Quality Inspected' the brickwork so this is just purely myself going over the brickwork with a fine tooth comb.

Slight zig/zag affect in alfresco and front corners.

Time Lapse video of our Estate

Recently, our estate developers posted a video showing a time lapse of the estate neighbourhood park and display homes over the last 6 months.

Very cool!

Less than 30 days left... but not really!

Had a quick chat to our Site Supervisor today, unfortunately even though our 'un-official' PCI will most likely be end of July, we won't be handing over till mid to end of August as he will be away for 9 days.

This will put us well over the expected finished date set out by the contract. As disappointing as this is I am happy that our SS wants to check the house himself when he gets back before officially handing over.

Therefore our countdown timer is no longer accurate :( I will update it as soon as I have a more accurate date.

Update - Paint Prep

Hi All,

Sorry our blog has been neglected the last week. I have been overseas and didn't really know what was happening on site.

I landed this morning and my first stop was the house! A lot has been done the last week and it includes;

  • Bricks washed - Sorry it was a wet day so not many photos

  • Stone bench tops installed

  • Front door installed

  • Roof antenna installed - Sorry no photo

We were lucky enough to have had the painter on-site starting the pre-paint prep work and he was nice to invite us in and show us around. It's quite obvious the massive job at hand and I think it will be a minimum of a week before we see the painting completed.

As for 'build issues' there is nothing major to report out thankfully, just a few aesthetic issues that we will populate our PCI check-list with. We are communicating them to our SS but not really pushing for them to be rectified now as we know there's no point.

We've been told that we are still on track for an end of July completion which is the deadline set out by the contract but seeing the house today we are unsure if/how this will be achieved.

Let's see!
