- Sound proofing added to theatre room. Plaster had to be ripped down.
- TV Pre-wiring, Data points and NBN box has been installed. They forgot to do it before plaster so I can only imagine how fun it was to do it through all the insulation and the frame. They used CAT 6 as requested.
- Internal doors delivered including our internal temporary doors (for fixing of door frames) waiting for the custom ones to come in.
That's the good stuff... Now for some small issues to add to the list!
- Missing insulation to the bath tub
- Gap between alfresco sliding doors and brick. Not sure how they are going to fill these! The rest of the windows are pretty good though.
- Last but certainly not least, the crew that installed the NBN pre-wiring managed to damage our storm water plumbing.
I truly feel for our SS. He manages to solve all the issues within a few days and then there are another hand full to deal with. I guess it's part of the building game.
Hi Joe, with your NBN enclosure in the garage - was this the "Basic Fibre Pack with Enclosure" Argus product code 5030287?
ReplyDeleteI was told it would be significantly smaller compared to the one on display at World of Style, but I see from your photos it's the same size.
Reason being, I wanted to install my own UPS inside the cabinet for a Router, Ethernet Power Injector and the NBN NTD (I manage a corporate network and need reliable Internet when power goes out). I'm hoping our enclosure ends up being the same as yours. Up to bricking stage now, just waiting for PD to rectify a few issues picked up by Darbecca.
Hi Matt,
DeleteThat's correct. Not sure about the part number but the description is the same.
Worst case you can add another enclosed box under it and run the UPS in there? Just a suggestion but I think the NBN boxes are quite tightly packed already.
Awesome. Have you got a blog? What sort of issues did Darbecca pick up?
Cheers
Thanks Joe, sounds like it could be the same.
DeleteNBN Co no longer provide the BBPSU for new installations unless specifically requested by the customer. I'll utilise this free space for my own UPS (if depth isn't an issue). If not, your suggestion for another enclosure would be a good alternative.
Darbecca were quite impressed overall. Only a small number of issues. Notable are: 20-30mm frame overhang on one corner of garage, none of external walls have been nailed off (he said this is very common as they like to do it at lockup stage), slab is slightly unlevel in rumpus and study, and a couple of braces need attending to.
Our site supervisors (on our second now) and building coordinator (also on our second) have been fantastic so far. I'm pretty confident they'll get it sorted before bricking (as I've requested). Darbecca will be doing another inspection shortly, so can clarify anyway.
No blog, but I'll post some photos online over the weekend so you can have a look if you like.
Been checking yours weekly. Things definitely going much smoother now, with just the odd few things. Did you hear anything back regarding the gap between alfresco sliding doors and brick? I'm interested to see how they get around it.
Thanks for that information. I didn't know that and will definitely consider using that space also.
DeleteThat's great to hear. Our frame inspection was very similar to yours besides the roof truss issues we had (sorted now). The nailed off walls is a common issue with all PD homes as Darbecca suggested. They did eventually do it though.
We are also on our second SS and third BC. Current SS is fantastic and makes it a lot easier for us to deal with issues. Haven't dealt much with our BC to comment.
Great. Would love to have a look!
Thanks, yea they certainly are getting a lot smoother especially with the new SS. Yes I did, The solution is a metal L plate that will be painted the same colour as the frames. In our case monument. You can see an example here: http://dunedin29.blogspot.com.au/2014/09/back-to-where-it-all-began.html 4th image down. They have added the bracket to fill the gap in the display and used render to cover it.
Hope that helps!
