Meeting with Site Supervisor(s) - Faith restored!

Hi all,

You might have noticed that I haven't posted in a while. I have been working overseas for 3 weeks and didn't have much time to spend on the build.

We have both been quite stressed about the status of our build, especially after the frame and slab inspection. Our (old) site supervisor suggested we meet on site and go through all the issues one by one.

I managed to get a day off work today and arranged a site meeting. To our surprise this was also a 'hand-over' walk through as our file has been transferred to a new site supervisor. This was quite concerning at first and seemed like it would just add to the stress. Fortunately, after meeting our new SS we are quite confident that he want's to do the right thing by us.

Without going into too much detail, ALL the items raised in our report will be rectified before the build progresses any further. Our SS called a stop to all works (which we appreciated) to ensure that we are happy with the quality of work done before going ahead.

We are much more relaxed and confident about the future of our build after today's meeting.

The gutters are on and the roof is due on the 21/04/2015.

Onwards and upwards.. We hope!

  1. Hi, We are building a dunedin in aspect estate in Greenvale. Recently our build has also had a changeover of SS from Dean to Jason which seems to have reinvigorated our site and rectification of defects.

We have also had similar issues in terms of major framing defects and invoicing which we had to delay until our independent inspection report was actioned and rectified. Unfortunately we are still working through some framing issues even though the site is nearly ready plaster (half way through brick atm)

Also just keep an eye on the materials being sent to site as we had an issue with the wrong colour roof being installed, woodland grey was installed when monument should have been installed. This was fixed within 3-4 days and the supplier (colourbond) covered the costs but the SS admitted that he wouldn't have picked it up unless we brought it to their attention.

Anyways love the blog and hope the rest of the build goes well :)

    1. Hi Mathew/Rachel,

It seems we have the same SS now. Great to hear things are looking more positive under his supervision.

We actually made a request yesterday and it was implemented today! I'm shocked but ecstatic at the same time.

That sucks! We were lucky that our old SS delayed all works due to the issues of the build.

Will do, we also have monument as our roof! Could you please send me a photo of the difference so I can ensure we get the right material?

Thank you and same for your build :D

  2. Hi Joe,

I don't have a photo but just keep an eye on the offcuts from the fascia / guttering and roofing sheets in the site bins to compare the colours, luckily we had the same monument fascia, gutters and roof so the incorrect woodland grey stood out a bit!
